Teacher Development Academy

The Teacher Development Academies (TDA) are a series of professional development opportunities provided to public schools in Iowa. Professional development opportunities include Concept-Oriented Reading Instruction (CORI), Question-Answer Relationships (QAR), Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR), and Second Chance Reading. These projects, grounded in research, center on classroom interventions emphasizing reading with an overall goal of increasing student reading achievement among students in Iowa secondary schools.

The Psychology in Education Research Lab (PERL) supports the Iowa Department of Education’s Teacher Development Academies by providing a web-based data collection site. Approximately 4800 students participated in classroom interventions during the 2005-2006 school year.
