Iowa Online Advanced Placement Academy
Overview
The Online Advanced Placement Academy (IOAPA) was located at The University of Iowa's Belin-Blank International Center for the Development of Talent and Giftedness. IOAPA was a federally funded project that sought to increase the opportunity for secondary school students in Iowa to take Advanced Placement courses and successfully complete Advanced Placement Examinations offered by the College Board.
Participants
Approximately 130 Iowa students from 200 school districts were enrolled in online courses being provided by APEX learning.
The Psychology in Education Research Lab (PERL) served as the external evaluator for this partnership that involved the University of Iowa, College Board, and APEX learning. The field research data collected by PERL served as the basis for determining accountability and impact as required by the Government Performance and Reporting Act (1993).
