CERTI2

Overview

The Comprehensive Educational Restructuring Technology Infusion Initiative (CERTI2) was an innovative project initiated in 2000 by the University of Cincinnati, College of Education. The project's purpose was to implement a long-term learning technology plan that improved the quality of faculty instruction and increased equal opportunities for pre-service teachers to use, experience, and implement technology. CERTI2 had the following culminating goals: 1) Building technology expertise in educational environments, 2) Using performance-based and authentic assessment, and 3) Ensuring equitable access to high quality education for all individuals.

Participants

The target audience was 600 pre-service teachers (K-12) and 30 faculty members with a culminating impact of over 2000 public school teachers and approximately 50 university faculty.

PERL served as the external evaluator for this partnership that involved several universities, schools, and other stakeholders. The project was a three year cross-sectional study. The field research collected by PERL served as the basis for determining accountability and impact as required by the Government Performance and Reporting Act (1993).
