Outreach Activities
-
At the present time, most of my funded research and evaluation
activities involve the integration of technology and
instruction or learning at the k-12 level. This listing of
activities is provided to indicate that I have always been
interested in, and involved with, translating theory and
research into effective educational practices. This interest is
also reflected in my membership on the task force that
developed the State of Iowa guidelines for implementing a
District-wide Standards-Referenced Assessment System. This
report from the Assessment Literacy Task Force was developed at
the request of the Iowa Department of Education, September 3,
1998.
My research group Psychology in Education Research Laboratory was initiated in August of 1998. Our research efforts focus primarily on educational interventions that impact student achievement in reading, mathematics and science. We are involved with several state-wide initiatives that are providing research data to be used for policy analysis and policy implementation relative to the No Child Left Behind legislation. These efforts include involvement with all of the 365 local school districts in the State of Iowa , the Area Education Agencies and the Iowa Department of Education.
